A phenomenon was mentioned earlier today about the supposedly strange reaction of one of the original donor relatives who wished to visit the recipient in whom the heart of his daughter beat. It is, in fact, a common reaction. That aspect of organ transplantation has been present since its inception and is very much with us today. Along with the numerous other factors, the anthropomorphic aspects of the meaning of giving and receiving organs may also contribute to the discrepancy between the number of organs one would like to have and the number of organs that one does have for transplantation.
